Abstract
Qualitative theoretical consideration suggest that substitution of a heteroatom for a C atom in an alternant hydrocarbon might results in a non-Kekulé with a triplet ground state, despite the nondegeneracy of the Hückel MBMOs of the heteroatom derivatives.
