Abstract
We have recently reportcd that the reaction of alkylmanganese (II) iodides with saturated carboxylic acid chlorides leads to the corresponding saturated ketones in good yields". This method proved to be more rewarding than those based on other metals such as cadmium, zinc, aluminium, mercury in many cases.
