Abstract

5 termediates which can be converted to the previously unknown N-tert-butylanthranilic acid 7 and its derivatives. Addition of 1 to a slight excess of aqueous sodium hydroxide and extraction with benzene gave, in high yield, 2, characterized in particular by the absence of a carbonyl absorption band in its infrared spectrum.
