Abstract

12-Hydroxyheptadeca-trans-8, tr~ ns-lO-dienoic acid and analogs in which one or both double bonds are replaced by triple bonds have been prepared by methods which give products essentially free from cis isomers. These acids have been tested for smooth muscle stimulant activity and found to be approximately as active as ricinelaidic acid.
