Abstract

Combinatorial biosynthesis approaches that involve modular type I polyketide synthases (PKSs) are proven strategies for the synthesis of polyketides. In general however, such strategies are usually limited in scope and utility due to the restricted substrate specificity of polyketide biosynthetic machinery.
