Abstract: A series of peresters RC020C (SH3) 2R'cleanly liberate 1 mol of carbon dioxide with a quantum yield of unity when irradiated in solution at 2537 A. An alkyl radical R. and an alkoxy radical. OC (CH&R'are the first discernible intermediates.
