Abstract

To a stirred solution of lithium diisopropylamide [prepared from 1.5 M n-hexane solution of n- BuLi (57.3 mL, 0.086 mol) and diisopropylamine (12.6 mL, 0.09 mol) in anhydrous THF (60 mL)] was added a solution of N-(phenylsulfony1) indole (7)(20 g, 0.078 mol). After 0.5 ha solution of acetone (6.7 mL, excess) in anhydrous THF was added at-78" C. The mixture was gradually warmed to room temperature and kept there for 4 h with stirring. It was poured ...
