Abstract
Abstract Formaldehyde reacts with substituted nitrosobenzenes giving the corresponding N- phenylhydroxamic acids. A mechanism involving three sequential steps in this reaction is proposed. The first step is the nucleophilic attack of the nitroso group on the carbonyl group
