Abstract
Abstract: Allyl and benzyl radicals have been produced by pyrolysis in a photoelectron spectrometer. Adiabatic and vertical IPS coincide for both species and are determined to be 8.13 f 0.02 eV for allyl, 7.20 f 0.02 eV for benzyl, and 7.22 f 0.02 eV for benzyl-adz. Heats of formation derived from these results are 225.5 f 1. I kcal/mol for allyl cation and 21 1 f 1.1 kcal/mol for benzyl cation. Vibrational structure has been resolved. The results are ...
