Abstract
The monocarboxylic acid polyether antibiotics have recently been reviewed. 2 The antibiotics have the ability to form lipophilic complexes with a variety of organic and inorganic cations. The inner surface of these materials consists of an array of oxygen atoms present in ether, hydroxyl, or carbonyl groups while the outer surface is composed of hydrophobic alkyl groups.
