Abstract

Abstract (1Z, 4Z) 1, 5-Dilithium-1, 4-pentadiene (I) is synthesized by the reaction of (1Z, 4Z) 1, 5-diiodo-1, 4-pentadiene (IIIb) with butyllithium. I reacts with trimethylchlorosilane to give the (1Z, 4Z) 1, 5-bis (trimethylsilyl)-1, 4-pentadiene (IV) and with dimethyldichlorosilane to give the 1, 1-dimethyl-1-silacyclohexadiene (V). The structures of I, III, IV and V are confirmed by 1 H NMR, IR, UV and mass spectra.
