Abstract
Abstract: 3-Dienoyl tetramic acids related to the antibiotics tirandamycin and streptolydigin have been prepared via intramolecular CIaisen condensation and via acylation of 2, 4- pyrrolidiones. The spectroscopic properties of these novel analogues, which are described, provide excellent models for like properties of the antibiotics.
