Abstract

This method should be useful in the synthesis of other bisthiolsulfonates using 1,4-butanedisulfinic acid with both aliphatic and aromatic thiols and hopefully also in the preparation of thiolsulfonates using aromatic sulfinic acids and alkylene dithiols. A limitation of the method may be that 1,bbutanedisulfinic acid is perhaps the only alkylene disulfinic acid which is quite stable as the free acid.'
