Abstract
Titanium alkoxide-catalyzed asymmetric phosphonylation of aldehydes yields hydroxy phosphonates in moderate to good enantiomeric excess (ees∼ 70%). The hydroxy phosphonates were acetylated and the acetates were subjected to enzyme-catalyzed kinetic resolution.
