Abstract

CI of the expected dithiocarboxylic acid, 2-(2-amino-phenyl)-4H-3, 1-benzothiazine-4-thione (4), had been isolated. The structure of 4 was identical with the material obtained by the iron- hydrochloric acid reduction3 of 8, which was prepared according to Legrand's pr~ cedure.~ When the acidification of the reaction mixture was carried out at lower temperatures (5" C), a new material, 2, 1-benzisothiazoline-3-thione (5a), was isolated in addition to 4.
