Abstract

Abstract: Anchimeric assistance approaching lo3 in magnitude is observed in photobromination of alkyl bromides. This is attributed to bromine assistance in the transition state with the requirement of an antiperiplanar arrangement of the bridging bromine and the hydrogen being abstracted by a bromine atom.
