Abstract: The isomeric pulegone p-toluenesulfonylhydrazones (tosylhydrazones), 5-E and 5- Z, have been prepared and their structures have been established by x-ray crystallographic techniques. The alkyllithium mediated decomposition of these isomeric tosylhydrazones has been studied in order to evaluate the role of tosylhydrazone stereochemistry upon the regiospecificity of olefin formation.
