Abstract

Ring-closure of-formylcysteine in acid solution affords 2-thiazoline-4-carboxylic acid, the simplest thiazoline derivable from cysteine. The behaviour of this thiazoline in acid and in buffered aqueous solutions has been studied spectrophotometrically. Related observations on 2-phenyl-2-thiazoline-4-carboxylic aci
