Abstract
4-Phenyl-2, 6-dimethylaniline has been prepared in a variety of ways. Oxidation by the peroxidase system gives 4, 4′-diphenyl-2, 6, 2′, 6′-tetramethylazobenzene and p- benzoquinone-4-(4′-phenyl-2′, 6′-dimethylanil. A mechanism is proposed for this unusual reaction.
