Abstract

This report lista additional examples of the dehydration of alcohols (particularly 1- alkylcycloalkanols) to olefins, the dehydration of alcohols to ethers and certain diols to cyclic ethers, the pinacol rearrangement us. diene formation from 1, 2-diols, the dehydration and in part oxidation of two 1, 3-diols, the conversion of ethers to olefins, and the preparation of furans from 1, 4-diketones. Additional observations on the mechanism are discussed.
