Abstract
Twelve trans-dicationic pyridium porphyrins appending different peripheral substituents were synthesized and their abilities to bind and cleave DNA under irradiation have been investigated. Their binding modes to DNA were studied by UV–vis spectroscopy, circular dichroism.
