Abstract
The family of nitric oxide synthases (NOS) catalyzes the conversion of l-arginine to l-citrulline and nitric oxide (NO), an important cellular messenger molecule which has been implicated in the pathophysiology of septic shock and inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease states.
