Abstract

Two novel analogues of the mannosyl transferase acceptor substrate (GlcNAc)- pyrophosphate-dolichyl have been prepared in which dolichyl is replaced by phytanyl and lauryl; both and were synthesised using readily available chitin as the disaccharide precursor.
