Abstract
The infrared absorption spectra have been determined for a series of a,@-and@, y- unsaturated tertiary amines and their salts. The absorption maximum in the double bond stretching region does not shift appreciably in going from a P, y-unsaturated amine to its salt. By contrast, a decided shift (ca. 20-50 cm.-l) toward higher frequency is observed in going from an o,@-unsaturated amine (enamine) to its salt, corresponding to the structural ...
