Abstract: Solution-and solid-state Il3Cd NMR spectra have been obtained at 7.1 and 9.4 T for precursors of Cd2+-substituted hemoglobin, namely, cadmium protoporphyrin IX dimethyl ester (Cd-PPIXDME), cadmium protoporphyrin IX (Cd-PPIX), Le., Cd*+-substituted heme, and Cd2+-substituted myoglobin (Cd-Mb). The isotropic chemical shift in solution for these complexes ranged from 375 ppm in Cd-PPIX to 455 ppm in Cd-Mb. The resonance for ...
