Abstract
BY JOSEPH CORSE'AND EWALD ROHRMANN j3-Phenylisovaleric acid was prepared by Hoffman2 by the haloform oxidation of 4-methyl-4-phenyl-2-pentanone1 d substance readily prepared by the reaction of benzene and mesityl oxide with aluminum chloride as catalyst.
