Abstract

α-Oxophosphonium ylides react with N-chlorosuccinimide, N-bromosuccinimide and N- iodosuccinimide in the presence of azidotrimethylsilane giving the corresponding haloazidoalkenes which were completely converted to the 2-halo-2H-azirines on heating in heptane.
