Abstract
RH, CHI, CH (CHa), potassium acid sulfate. The resulting indene was hydrogenated catalytically. Treatment of the indans with diazoacetic ester followed by hydrolysis and simultaneous decarboxylation and dehydrogenation gave the desired azulenes.
