Abstract
Substantial tar formation and very small amounts of unidentifiable products were observed as well. To establish the exact position of methylamino group (3 or 2) in compound III, the second possible isomeric product, ie, 2-(methylamino)-4-nitroquinoline (IV), was synthesized.
