Abstract
The synthesis of a-(N-ethoxyamino) ethyl and y-(N-ethoxyamino) propyl mercaptans is reported. This was achieved by converting ethoxyamine first to its urethan which was alkylated by 1, 2-dibromoethane and 1, 3-dibromopropane to furnish the requisite w-(N- ethoxy-N-carbethoxyamino) alkyl bromides. The latter were treated with thiourea to yield the corresponding isothiuronium salts, which were hydrolyzed to the mercaptans stated above ...
