Abstract

Abstract The reactivity of perfluoroalkyl iodide in the presence of a zinc-copper metal couple and a radical initiator in DMF, has been investigated. This led to the formation of a mixture of N, N-dimethyl perfluoroalkylamide and perfluoroalkyl aldehyde. After studying the influence of different reaction parameters, the perfluoroalkyl aldehyde formation has been optimized to high yield (over 90%).
