Abstract

Abstract Several tetra-alkoxyethenes have been synthesized from dialkoxy-monoaryl- oxymethanes by treatment with sodium hydride. The occurrence of dialkoxy carbenes as possible reaction intermediates is discussed. Best results (45-60%) were obtained with dialkoxy-mono-p-chlorophenoxymethanes.
