Abstract

2-Chloroethylphosphonic acid (ethephon) as the dianion phosphorylates butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) at its active site. In contrast, the classical organophosphorus esterase inhibitors include substituted-phenyl dialkylphosphates (eg, paraoxon) with electron-withdrawing aryl substituents.
