Abstract The methodology in this article is a palladium (II)/copper (II)-or palladium (II)- catalyzed intermolecular cyclization of acrylic acid with alkenes to produce α-methylene-γ- butyrolactone derivatives using molecular oxygen as an environmentally benign oxidant.
