Abstract

Conclusions Oxygen is generated when suspensions of CdS loaded with noble metal oxides are illuminated by visible light in the presence of an acceptor for conduction band electrons. An important result of the present investigation concerns the high catalytic activity of Rh2O3 in promoting water oxidation by valence band holes: Under alkaline condition the initial quantum yield for O2 formation observed with CdS/Rh203 exceeds that of CdS/ ...
