Abstract

The preparation and properties of 4-bromo-3, 3-dimethylbutylamine hydrobromide are described. Several alternate syn-thetic routes were explored. The analogous hydroxy and methoxy amines were prepared also. The best sequence started with asp-dimethylsuccinic anhydride reduction to 2, 2-dimethyl-1, 4-butanediol and conversion to the dibromide, the more reactive bromine of which was replaced by an amino group by way of the Gabriel ...
