Abstract

Reactions were studied between ethylmagnesium bromide and alkylene disulfones of the structure ArSOz-(CH2), S02Ar. With n= 2, no stable metalated product could be demonstrated by addition to benzaldehyde, but the presence of such a product could not be altogether discounted; vigorous conditions resulted in difficultly reproducible elimination and reduction reactions which gave mixtures of products.
