Abstract

In a previous publication from this Laboratory, 2 it was shown that the acetylation of p-di-n- butylbenzene and p-di-sec-butylbenzene by means of aluminum chloride in refluxing carbon disulfide yielded 2, 4-di-n-butylacetophenone and 2, 4-di-secbutylacetophenone as the principal dialkylacetophenones.
