Abstract Two light-sensitive, gluco and cellobio polymers, were synthesized by formation of an amide bond between 4-carboxy-2-nitrobenzyl β-d-glucopyranoside or 4-carboxy-2- nitrobenzyl 4-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-β-d-glucopyranoside, respectively, and aminoethyl- substituted, polyacrylamide-gel beads.
