Abstract
The reaction of dimedone with phenylmagnesium bromide has been previously investigated. We have now studied the corresponding reaction of dihydmresorcinol (I) whose structure is very similar to that of dimedone. Three products (11,111, and IV) and a tar were isolated after decomposing the Grignard complex.
