Abstract: The thermal decomposition of alkyl azides R3CN3 with R= H, CH3, or HC= CH2 has been investigated in a low-pressure flow reactor over the temperature range from 300 to 1200 K by PE spectroscopic real-time gas analysis. The ionization patterns of the azide starting compounds are assigned via Koopmans' theorem on the basis of MNDO calculations, and their recorded changes allow us to determine the N2 split-off ...
