Abstract
Steric effects and the two mechanisms which are consistent with the alkyl-and n-alkylsilanes have been determined using potassium hydroxide in 93.7 wt.-% ethanol at 0". rate constants are correlated using the Taft equation. kinetic data are discussed in terms of the above correlations.
