Abstract

An improved synthesis of 6-methylenedihydrodesoxymorphine (6-RIDDRI) from dihydromorphinone in an over-all yield of 53% is described. In rats, 6-AlDDlI is a more potent analgesic than morphine with a more rapid onset but similar duration of action.
