Abstract

Glycine, alanine, and serine (Chart I) have been shown to enhance the electrophysiological response induced by the excitatory amino acid, N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA), in cortical neurons from primary cell culture.'This potentiation was shown to be independent of the strychnine-sensitive glycine receptor. 2 A strychnine-insensitive, sodium-independent [3H] glycine recognition site in rat brain has been reported3 and autoradiographic studies have ...
