Abstract

The pressure effect on the phosphine-catalyzed nucleophilic addition of alcohols to unsaturated nitriles is examined. As a general result, pressure promotes these reactions. Their sensitivity to pressure increases with increasing steric congestion of either the alcohol or the nitrile.
