Abstract

In the last decade new pyrroloisoquinoline and indolizino [8, 7-b] indole alkaloids, having cytotoxic and other biologic activity, were isolated from Carduus crispus and Kopsia griffithii, respectively, by Chinese [1] and Malaysian [2] groups. At the same time Poissonnet et al. reported on 1, 2-dicyano substituted analogues of the latter alkaloids with considerable anti- leukemic activity [3].
