Abstract

CH2-N nitroguanidine was stable under these conditions but p-chloroethylnitroguanidine and p-bromoethylnitroguanidine both cyclized to l-nitro-2-amino-2-imidazoline hydrochloride X and hydrobromide, respectively. It was found that better yields (83-10070) of the cyclized products could be obtained by adding the linear compounds to boiling 2- pentanol.
