Abstract
Gossypol Hexabenzoate.-The Schotten-Baumann reaction was used. The detailed procedure employed was similar to that described by Carruthe except that 0.5 g. of sodium hydrosulfite was added to the sodium hydroxide solution and pure gossypol-acetic acid was used. From 5.0 g. of pure gossypol-acetic acid, 4 g. of product, insoluble in methyl alcoholic alkali, was obtained. It was purified from hot ethyl alcohol and formed a yellow powder, mp ...
