Abstract
Summary Treatment of a 2-hydroxy-3-alkyl-1, 4-naphthoquinone with hydrogen peroxide in dioxane-soda solution gives a colorless acid that is an intermediate in the Hooker reaction and that can be converted by the action of copper sulfate and alkali into the hydroxynoralkylnaphthoquinone in very high over-all yield.
