Abstract

The three isomeric P-pyridylethylamines exhibit characteristic differences in their physiological activity depending on the position of the side-chain in the pyridine ring. The 2- isomer resembles histamine, while the 3-and 4-isomers are pressor amir~ es,~.~ perhaps because only the/3-(2-pyridyl)-ethylammonium ion can exist in a chelated form like the histamine ion. 3 It could be expected that these properties would be more pronounced in ...
